FIRST AID AT HOME AND AWAY
Disasters ♦ Accidents ♦ Everyday bumps and bruises
Not a question of if they will happen it is When will they happen.
Are you prepared?
Do you know simple basic first aid?
Can you perforn CPR?
Do you have a bug out bag for each person in your family?
Do you have a disaster plan in place?
I don't wish to terrify anyone but the simple fact is you need to take action now to prepare.
I have been gathering information for several years and putting simple measures in place to help myself and my family and friends.
I taught a class on simple first aid that I believe can help a person to cope with just about any situation.
I will share that information with you on this page.
Disaster Preparedness
Number one... Don't panic. I know it is all to easy to go into panic mode. If you believe the situation is dangerous then take a deep breath and think before you act.
If you are prepared then it is much easier to move into action
Number two... Take a first aid/CPR class. This is probably the best thing I have ever done.
Yes I have used the information from the class to help others. Check out your local fire station, college, or hospital for classes.
They are not expensive and the information could save a life.
Number three... Bug out bag or disaster kit.
This should contain the items you and your family need to survive.
Backpacks work best for holding the items you need. They are easier to grab and carry than a duffle bag or rolling suitcase.
Think about trying to run or carry the bag over debris.
You should have in the bag several items you might not have lying around the house.
Food.. protein bars
Water in sealed containers.
Water purification tablets.
Compass and whistle
Swiss army knife or similar tool.
Rain poncho
Warmth protection like mylar sheet or mylar sleeping bag.
Waterproof matches
Radio hand cranking kind or battery operated
Map of the area you live.
Basic First Aid kit
Medications/ glasses
Sanitary supplies
Single or two person pop up tent
There are premade kits that have these items so be sure to check them out.
